Pre-Purchase Inspections
A pre-purchase inspection at Tyrolf Automotive is a great way to investigate the current condition of the vehicle you are considering for purchase. However, it is not a guarantee or warranty for the short or long term reliability of the vehicle.
Why choose Tyrolf Automotive for used vehicle inspections?
- 28 Years of Experience. I have spent my career working for auto wholesalers and dealerships, including 13 years with CARMAX - the nation's largest used vehicle dealer - where I was responsible for the execution of the quality inspection of nearly 80,000 vehicles. I was a member of the original team that created the Quality Inspection Process.
- I do not sell vehicles, nor do I have any ties to any dealers.
- You are the only potential income for Tyrolf Automotive. The disadvantage of having the vehicle checked out at a competing dealer is that they have an interest in selling you their vehicle. Many dealers pay incentives to service department associates for sales leads.
The Advantages of Buying Used Vehicles:
- Used vehicles cost less.
- Used vehicles depreciate more slowly.
- Used vehicles save you money on taxes.
The Risks of Buying Used Vehicles:
- Many used vehicles have had extensive damage.
- Many used vehicles have unresolved mechanical issues.
- Many used vehicles have not had proper maintenance.
Actions You Can Take To Protect Yourself:
- Have the vehicle inspected by a technician who has experience with used vehicles and that has no stake in this, or any other, vehicle sale.
- Research the year, make, and model of vehicle you are considering. There is detailed information on-line, in magazines, and in books about known issues with particular vehicles. Be careful not to base your decision totally on this information, as it is difficult for these sources to be real-time.
- Research the dealer. Check with friends and neighbors about their experiences. Check with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's Office.
